The Playful Christmas Gift Guide

Buying gifts for your loved ones definitely is not easy! With the oncoming pressure of looming Christmas shipping deadlines, choc-a-bloc shopping centers and the dreaded Christmas carolers; before you know it you've panic-bought your girlfriend a poo emoji-shaped cushion. However fear not - sit back and relax, because we're making it super easy for you this year with the ultimate Playful gift buying guide.

Sizing

Sizing is probably one of the trickiest aspects of gift-buying. Luckily, even without knowing someone's specific size you can still buy them something sweet or sultry. We'd suggest our eye masks as a cute stocking filler, or a small gift. For something a little naughtier, go for our pasties. Both of these are already lovingly presented in gift boxes with black tissue paper - so no stress about wrapping nicely! If eye masks and pasties just won't do, we also have gift cards which can either be in card form or in an email!

If you have a slightly better idea about sizing (psst, take a look at the labels on your recipient's favourite skirts or trousers), then our gift tins are a cute option. With a choice of 3 tins and knicker pairings, it's easy to pick something to suit whoever you're buying for. The tins are beautifully illustrated with some adorable knickers inside. Another easy-sizing option is any of our nightwear. The Lucinda (shown below) in particular is a sensual option in luxurious wine red satin, perfect for winter nights.

Even if you think you know the recipient's size, these can still differ throughout brands and styles, so there's a chance the item may not fit. However, we do accept returns and exchanges (with items unworn), and for all orders purchased from the 24th November until the 24th December will be offered an extended returns period until the 12th January. So you can buy with confidence!

Style

It's important to keep in mind who you're buying for! It's recommended not to buy erotic lingerie for the new romance in your life unless you are 100% sure they're going to appreciate it! Ouvert knickers or a cupless bra might be a bit much for that third date. However, this doesn't mean lingerie is a total no-go. Sticking to simpler, trend-led styles could be a great alternative. Keep in mind the person's personal style, and what things they already like wearing. Something fun like the Anna might be a cute option for and sparkle-loving person in your life!

Christmas gift review: Frilly Knickers

Stylist, fashion PR and Clo Clo’s Closet editor, Chloe Pierre reviews our frilly briefs!

Firm friend & insanely loyal fan of The Playful Promises Boutique, I had the pleasure to review the gorgeous Frilly Knickers range, which is temptingly affordable at a simple price of £10 a pair.

Initially I was skeptical of the Frilly Knickers set as I am a self-proclaimed ‘big panties’ kind of girl, who is usually averse in the luck of wearing frilly lingerie and feeling seductive in them, but honestly, these knickers didn’t even allow a hint of that dreaded feeling to flash back.

The knickers were extremely agreeable on, had a great amount of elasticity, which allowed enough space to fit my voluptuous rear without any strangulation of the waist or thighs and being so close to my intimates did not give one inch of irritation or leave me feeling uncomfortable.

With the heavy adorned frilling going right around the brief and the beautiful oversized bows at each side made my ample hips look very tantalizing if my boyfriend and I, say so ourselves.

With him being a French knickers junkie, per say, he made me model each one, whilst eventually deciding on the Magenta pair, identifying them as ‘keepers’.

Now be under no illusion that this type of underwear is produced to work underneath jeans or your tight LBD as for obvious reasons, the detailing will either show through most fabrics under jeans, is free for movement and will ultimately damage the experience of wearing such a luxurious product. My best bet is to either wear under a very loose garment or keep for a special occasion within the boudoir. 

This is definitely something every woman should have on their Christmas Wish List and pairs up as a great gift solution and stocking filler too.

I will definitely purchase at least two pairs for each my gorgeous and varied framed, girlfriends in the constructive colours that I instantly fell in love with, Black & Peach.

Three words that sum up the frilly knickers in my opinion are practical (wink), undoubtedly rapturousand exquisitely opulent.

3. Morgana Lace and Mesh Bra £27.50. EVERY woman needs a little black lacy number, and we adore Morgana for it's ability to suit both day and night, work and play! 

4. Victoria Garter Dress £37.50. A classic favourite, the Victoria garter dress covers all those lumps and bumps we all have, creating a sleek and sexy silhouette. Turn over and reveal a naughty surprise :P

5. Bordello Glitter Cabaret Shoes £70. Talk about va-va-voom... These shoes just beg to shine out at that otherwise dreary Christmas party. I would probably break my neck wearing these, but at least I would look great for the Ambulence men. 

6. Heart Noir Brief £19. I cannot explain how much I love these adorable briefs. A brand new addition from our SS12 collection, these have been inspired by Film Noir and are therefore a perfect gift for all those a little bit devilish. 

7. Pin-Up Girl - Call Me Cutie £15. Another sumptuous tin from our gifting range, ideal for the pin-up obsessed. I particularly love the red stitch detail on the front of the briefs, and the phrase "Call Me..." leaves no questions about it! 

1. Genie Lace Triangle Bra - Mauve £25. Whenever I see this bra I instantly imagine Maire Antoinette teaming it with voluminous bloomers for a good relax on the chaise longue. Perhaps not historically accurate but perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

2. Peach Detail Waspie £80. This is not just any underbust corset. This adorable number has been created with light pink satin contrasted against black lace, the perfect combination (as if you couldn't tell one of our favourite colour combos). 

3. Rose Peach Lace Brief £16. Cute and dainty doesn't have to mean unsexy, and Rose proves this point with it's delightful sheer lace. I've chosen this as one of the most comfy styles I've ever worn, so who says you have to suffer for fashion? 

4. Lyla Satin Playsuit - Pink £35. As a lover all all things playsuits/leotards/bodysuits (unless it's from the 70s!) I had to snap this up in Black when I first saw it and I must say, it has definitely kept the dreaded onesies away this winter!

5. Pin Up Couture Pink Heritage Shoes £55. Every lingerie lover knows it is important to match your lingerie to your shoes. It's unlikely you will find pink and houndstooth knickers so you will just have to make do with matching these to anything else on our Nice gift guide.

6. Margot Blush Pink Brief £15. Who says femme fatales must be all red lipstick and black pencil skirts? The Margot brief is a sure sign of a good girl gone just a little bit bad. I LOVE the delicate eyelash lace and sheer back. 

7. Blush Suspender Belt £25. Cannot get enough of this Blush suspender belt - I'd even team it with black (with a touch of pink detail) lingerie just to make it pop! A perfect gift for vintage fantatics and pin-up sweethearts.
